A Cereal bag for a soft box!

Today while at lunch with Stephanie Richardson, we were disscussing how expensive lighting is and she mentioned to me how she had heard a cereal bag and and off camera flash works extremly well and obviously doesn't cost much. So I came home and researched it. Micheal Stewart has an article about this "Trix flash Modifier" and I think I might just give it a try. Take a look at the article for yourself!

My mentor

Today was amazing! I met up with Stehanie Richardson, one of the people I interned for at Studio Burns. We went to Art Station to view mine and my fellow graduates work, I was so excited to show her because she's been such a mentor to me and I think so highly of her! I was especially excited to show her how this shot turned out because she helped me think through how I wanted this image portrayed before I shot it. We discussed what props I was going to use, the background and how the colors would look together, how the lighting was going to look and even what mood or scene I was trying to create with this photograph. Being able to discuss a shot and your vision for it before it's shot is extremly helpful!

Bubblegum Girl!

This pic I did of my friend Ashley. It was an idea we had both had for a while and were very excited to shoot! We had so much fun, and of course he mouth was incredibly tired from blowing bubbles with gum for a long time. I am very pleased with the way the background turned out, I used a pink gel on a black backdrop and I love how rich the color is! The images came out even better than I envisioned and I had an amazing model!

Yay free art!

So my friend Elizabeth Rue recently won this and another print from an etsy seller on this site. She got to choose witch two she wanted and will be recieving them as 8x10 prints. I think this is a great promotion idea for the seller and the website. Also I really like this piece of work for the colors, design and concept. I can't wait to see the actual print!

House for rent!

So I got to shoot my first paying exterior arcitecturual photograph recently and I learned a couple things.

1. Theres no more choosing a perfect house to shoot. You have to shoot what your client wants you to, this house is completly covered by trees and at the bottom of a slope and this is the only angle I could shoot it at with a 18mm lens.

2. Theres not much time at all to compose and take your shot, I was rushed and didn't get to spend as much time as I like.

3. You don't always get to shoot at the perfect time of day, notice the front of the house is in shadow, the only time I could shoot was in the middle of the day and I had to take 3 exposures and blend them on photoshop. One for the sky, one for the front of the house, and one for the yard and side of the house.

Overall it was a good experience and hope the house will get rented soon, it is located in snellville and heres all the info if you are interested!

I'm looking for a new computer!

So, for the past year or so i've had an extremly hard time editing my work at home because my computer is so slow. Now that i've graduated it's become a HUGE problem because I don't have school computers to use. What i'm thinking rite now is a Macbook because it seems like a great buy, but i'm up for any suggestions. Also if you do have a Macbook or another great photo editing computer I would love to know what features and whatnot you suggest. Also know that i'm not looking for anything fancy because I don't have too much money to spend.

Sharing the love of photography

Yesterday I visited our exibit at Art Station with my grandparents. I was really excited to begin with because my granddad and I have shared the love of photography for years, and he hadn't seen any of the work in my current portfolio. He was very impressed by all my work and of course had a favorite. It was my little girl on the fence, he told me he loved my composure and how thought provoking it was. He then look at me handed me a check and told me he wanted that picture in his home! It means so much to be because I respect him so much as another genuine lover of photography and of course as my granddad!
